OCEAN SPRINGS — The second installment for the new and unique live music series “Jazz Fest in OS” is set.

Grammy Award honoree Johnny Sansone and his All-Star Band out of New Orleans will hit the stage at The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center on Sunday, Oct. 12th. Showtime is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at https://grandmagmusic.com/upcoming-shows-2/

Johnny Sansone is a true Louisiana blues superstar, dominating the genre with his powerful voice, stellar musicianship on accordion, harmonica, and any other instrument he chooses. From solo gigs to work with his trio or with the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars and guest appearances with The Royal Southern Brotherhood, Sansone brings his deep blues sensibilities, tastefully seasoned with Cajun, zydeco, and funky swamp rock.

While a lot of New Orleans musicians stay close to home because of the cost to tour, Sansone has been venturing out more and more. In fact, Sansone and his band, featuring John Fohl, will squeeze in their stop at “Jazz Fest in OS” between two separate European tours. He and his crew have been a fixture for most of the past three decades at The Fairgrounds in NOLA in the spring at Jazz Fest.

“We’re really looking forward to getting over there to The Mississippi Gulf Coast and play that beautiful theater,” Sanson said. “We’ve been trying to get over there for a while now. I’m at the stage of my career where I’m ready to get out and play. The way I feel today, I would like to play every night until the last night I’m alive. The last ten years or more, I’ve been doing more European tours. So were super excited to be staying closer to home.”

His latest release is a powerful look at a tortured soul releasing its pain through music. If you’ve never seen a live performance of The Lord is Waiting, be prepared. You just might catch a little glimpse of that Devil!

His engaging songs tell stories of Southern life (“Delta Coating,” “Poor Man’s Paradise”), loss (“The Night the Pie Factory Burned Down”), and spirituality (the Blues Award-winning “The Lord is Waiting (and the Devil Is Too)”); his stage presence engages audiences across the globe.

Sansone is considered one of the Crescent City’s top rock/blues artists and has won numerous Blues Music Association Awards and his engaging stage presence has wowed audiences across the globe over the past three decades.

Fohl, an accomplished musician in his own right, was the longtime lead guitarist for the legendary Dr. John in his band the “Lower 9/11”.

Sansone and his band’s appearance is the second installment of the new “Jazz Fest in OS” series, following an appearance by Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.

The next show up after Sansone will be Will Kimbrough, on Sunday, Nov., 9th.
