GULFPORT — D’Iberville is 6-0 for the first time in five years.
The Warriors knocked off home-standing West Harrison in convincing fashion 25-7 in a battle of unbeaten Harrison County neighbors Friday night in what turned out to be a fight for sole possession of first place in Region 4-7A. D’Iberville is not only 6-0 overall for the first time since 2020, but also unbeaten at 2-0 in league play as well for the first time in five years.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes drop their first game of the season and fall to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the region race. The loss denied West Harrison a chance to start off a season at 6-0 for the first time in program history.
The Warriors got 107 yards rushing and one touchdown from running back Chan Harvey as well as a pair of scoring runs from quarterback Jordan Walley in the winning effort.
D’Iberville steadily built a 19-0 lead after three quarters and never looked back, holding the Hurricanes to 32 points less than their season average of 39 points per game.

Warrior running back Jaylan Johnson scored on a short touchdown run to put DHS up 12-0 at halftime, and that would prove to be more than enough offense to get the win.

D’Iberville also kept West Harrison standout senior running back Jordan Stapleton out of the end zone for the first time this year. Stapleton had 17 touchdowns through the first five games of the season.

Josh Johnson had seven tackles and recovered a fumble for DHS on defense, while had six tackles, recovered a fcumble and had an interception. Caleb Triplett also recorded seven tackles.

Walley accounted for just over 200 yards of total offense in the win. Malakai Knight and three receptions for 80 yards for DHS.
Sean Fairley scored on a 3-yard touchdown run for the only score of the night for the Hurricanes.
