BROOKLYN — Prep football has been played in the state of Mississippi for about 120 years.
Yet, on Friday night, one of the strangest and most bizarre contests on the girdiron perhaps ever took place here just outside of Hattiesburg.
In the Region 8-4A opener for both teams, home-standing Forrest County AHS slipped past Moss Point 6-0 in five overtimes.

Yes, you read that correctly. Six points total were scored in four full quarters and five extra sessions.
Aggie quarterback Shawn Walker kept from 5-yards out on fourth and goal in the bottom of the fifth overtime for the game-winning and only score of any kind in the contest.
The two teams combined for 13 turnovers in the game.
The Aggies played without starting quarterback Parks Brock, who suffered a leg injusry last week in a loss to Purvis.
Early in the fourth period, Aggie placekicker Landon Anderson just missed a 4e3-yard field goal. His season-long so far was from 39-yards out.
Moss Point then blocked a potential game-winning field goal in the second OT.
For MPHS defensively, linebacker Landon Cato made a season-high 15 tackles to lead the way while Jayden Brown recorded 13 tackles including four tackles for loss and he had a fumble recovery. Terrance Jones registered a pair of interceptions.
The win snapped a two game losing streak for FCAHS and moved first-year head coach Bo Russum’s team to 4-2 overall and more importantly 1-0 in the region race, where the Aggies are tied with Pass christian atop the league standings.
The Aggies in all likelihood assured themselves of a berth in the upcoming Class 4A South State playoffs with the win.

Pass Christian held off Greene County 28-14 Friday night in the Region 8-4A opener for both of those teams at Johnny Ainsworth Stadium in Leakesville.
Moss Point, also under the guidance of a new head coach in Derrick Jenkins, falls to 1-5 overall and 0-1.
Next week, Moss Point hosts Bay High in region action. Bay High fell to 0-5 on the season with a 48-6 home loss to Hancock Friday night. The survivor of that battle of the Tigers next week will qualify for the Class 4A South State playoffs.
