PASCAGOULA — Resurrection opened the Class 1A South State volleyball playoffs in fine fashion Saturday morning.
The Lady Eagles swept away visiting Piney Woods 3-0 in quick fashion to move to 17-6 overall. The Lady Tornadoes ended the season at 1-8.





Resurrection is now on a seven match win streak as the Lady Eagles take aim on a trip to A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton at the overall state championship late next week.
The Lady Eagles warmed up for the playoffs by knocking off Class 7A foe St. Martin on the road Thursday night 3-1 (25-12, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18). In fact, the last loss for RSC came against another Class 7A opponent in D’Iberville several weeks back.
Next up for RCS is a home match-up with Sebastapol Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. Sebastapol swept Leflore County 3-0 to open the state playoffs as well.
