Both perennial state power OLA and Resurrection moved on to the third round of their respective state playoff brackets with home sweeps Tuesday night.

In addition, five other “Southern Six” squads joined that duo in advancing with wins on the same night.

Three-time defending Class 3A state champion OLA beat St. Andrews, while in Class 1A RCS beat Sebastapol. Meanwhile, in Class 5A both Vancleave and East Central moved with sweeps as well as the Lady Bulldogs beat North Pike 3-0 and the Lady Hornets beat home-standing South Jones.

And, in Class 4A, Poplarville and Bay High also registered second round sweeps while it took Pass Christian four sets to advance. The Lady Hornets beat Choctaw Central while Bay High dispatched Northeast Lauderdale, and the Lady Pirates got past West Lauderdale.

Action in an all seven classifications resume Thursday night.
