D’IBERVILLE — Ocean Springs running back Solomon Baggett played the roll of dream catcher Friday night.
The visiting Greyhounds strolled into Warriors Stadium to face unbeaten D’Iberville in a key Region 4-7A game, with the home team entertaining hopes and dreams of moving to 7-0 on a season for the first time in five years.
But Baggett dashed those thoughts onto the turf playing field, rushing for 235 yards and four touchdowns as OSHS rebounded from its first region loss in five years doubling up on D’Iberville 42-21.

The decision leaves both teams at 6-1, overall as well as 2-1 in the region race. Ocean Springs was coming off of a 41-28 loss at home to Gulfport, that wasn’t near as close as the score would indicate.
Baggett made his presence known mostly after the game was knotted up at 14-14 late in the second quarter.
His second scoring run of the game came on a 35-yard scoring scamper with 3:57 left in the first half to give OSHS a 21-14 advantage. It was a lead the visitors would never relinquish.
But OSHS wasn’t done, as the ensuing D’Iberville possession ended in a blocked punt by Greyhound defender Eli Chenault that his teammate Ayden Watson recovered inside the DHS 10-yard line.
Ocean Springs running back Lanny Waltman punched in a 3-yard touchdown plunge to put OSHS up 28-14 at halftime.

The Warriors bounced back a bit, opening the second half with a 70-yard scoring sprint by running back Chan Harvey to cut the deficit to 28-21 less than a minute into the third frame.
The score remained that way as the fourth quarter opened, and that was when Baggett went back to work to secure the win.
He scurried 25-yards down the sideline on the first play of the final period for his third score of the night to make it 35-21.
Then, with just under three minutes left, Baggett’s fourth touchdown run ended the scoring at 42-21.

The Greyhounds opened the scoring when sophomore quarterback Chalmers Berglind hit Sharroid Whitehead down the seam on a 41-yard touchdown toss at the 9:25 mark of the first quarter to make it 7-0.
The loss overshadowed an impressive outing by D’Iberville quarterback Jordan Walley, who finished with 200 yards rushing and two scores. His first touchdown run, with 5:57 to go in the opening period, came from 15-yards out to even the game up at 7-7.
On the first play of the second quarter, Baggett scored from 5-yards out to return the lead to the Greyhounds at 14-7.
Walley answered with a 55-yard scoring dash three minutes later to knot things back up at 14-14, and set the stage for the climactic series of events that ended the first half.
