KILN — Two teams with hopes of getting off to successful starts in region play face off at Brett Favre Field Friday night.
Home-standing Hancock left no doubt who was the better team by far.
Hawks senior quarter Kaison Koenenn accounted for six total touchdowns and over 300 yards of total offense as he led the home team to a solid 42-21 win over Pearl River Central in the Region 4-6A opener for both teams.
The decision moves Hancock to just 2-4 overall, but more importantly 1-0 in the region race. The Blue Devils, who were 4-1 coming in, head back to Carriere 0-1 in league play after having lost for the second time in the past three outings.

Believe it or not, Hancock trailed 7-0 in the first quarter after PRC quarterback Titus Feaster hooked up with Kendall Morrison on a 39-yard scoring pass with just :25 seconds left in the period.
But the second quarter was all Hawks, and in particular Koenenn, as he ran for two touchdowns and threw an 8-yard scoring toss to running back Coleton Hopgood as Hancock took a 20-7 lead into halftime.

PRC cut the deficit to 20-14 early in the third frame as Feaster kept from 12-yards out to make it 20-14.
But that would be a close as the Blue Devils would get.
Koenenn and HHS would respond with a 35-yard scoring strike to tight end Aiden Harvanek to extend the advantage to 27-14 heading into the fourth period.

Koenenn’s 35-yard touchdown on a screen pass to Hopgood at the 9:30 mark of the final frame basically sealed the deal at 34-14.
Koenenn added another scoring run down the stretch, to offset a a 60-yard touchdown toss from Feaster to his brother John Feaster, Jr.
Koenenn finished with 195 yards passing and three touchdowns as well as 132 yards rushing and three scores as well.
Titus Feaster threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns and also had a scoring run.
