Six “Southern Six” prep volleyball teams in five different classifications are all one step away from a spot in the overall state championship round with wins Monday night.

Ocean Springs, Hancock, George County, Pass Christian, OLA and Resurrection all are still alive and playing for their respective South State championship titles. The winners ot Monday nights match-up all head to Clinton later this week.

In Class 7A, Ocean Springs heads to Brandon Monday night. The Lady Greyhounds are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Harrison Central Thursday night.

In Lucedale, George County hosts Hancock. It’s the third straight year that the Lady Hawks and Lady Rebels have faced off in the Class 6A South State championship match. George County swept Long Beach on Thursday and Hancock swept Gautier.

In Class 4A, Pass Christian heads to Newton County Monday night. The Lady Pirates slipped past Poplarville 3-2 in an exciting all “Southern Six” match-up Thursday night.

In Class 3A, three-time defending state champion OLA is en route to another state title it seems but first must take on Union on the road Monday night.

And, In Class 1A, Resurrection heads to Ethel to decide who will make a trip to Clinton.

All seven MHSAA Volleyball State Championships (presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi) will take place in Clinton at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College on Thursday and Friday.
