One of the most tradition-rich prep volleyball programs in the state hails from the “Southern Six”.
And that team is headed back to the overall state championship round.
Our Lady Academy swept past home-standing Union 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-21) Monday night in the Class 3A South State title match. The Crescents will now attempt to win their fourth straight state championship Thursday morning at 10 a.m, in Clinton against Alcorn Central.
A pair of other “Southern Six” squads didn’t fare as well on the road Monday night in their respective South State title tilts.
In Class 1A, undefeated Ethel dispatched visiting Resurrection 3-1.
In Class 4A, Newton County swept Pass Christian 3-0.
