LUCEDALE — The third time proved to be the charm for the George County Lady Rebels Monday night.

The GCHS girls swept visiting Hancock in the Class 6A South State championship match 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-16) and in doing so move on the play for the Class 6A overall state championship Friday morning at 10 a.m.,  in Clinton at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College where they will face perennial state power Lake Cormorant.

The decision for George County was sweet revenge for the Lady Rebels, after Hancock had beaten GCHS the past two years in the Class 6A South State championship round.

The Lady Rebels will face the Lady Gators now for the state title, after Lake Cormorant won their fifth straight north state title with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, and 25-16) sweep over Neshoba Central Monday night. The Lady Gators are the three time straight and defending Class 6A state champion, and they have also won four of the past five state titles.

The Lady Gators swept Hancock 3-0 each of the past two seasons for the Class 6A state title.
