PASS CHRISTIAN — One of the biggest games in regular season history for Pass Christian takes place Friday as the Pirates welcome Moss Point in to McDonald Stadium.
And, that big clash in the Region 8-4A ranks is this week’s “Vertical Raise Game of the Week” for SouthMiss6 Sports.
Each week during the school year, SouthMiss6 Sports will feature a “GOTW” sponsored by Vertical Raise, the premier online fundraising platform for athletic teams and associated clubs and supporters of all ages.
And this week, the battle in the Pass is it.

A third straight win in Region 8-4A will in all likelihood give Pass its first ever region title in program history. And Moss Point will also have a say in who wins the region crown as a win this week and next week against Greene County could result in the first league title for the Tigers in four years.
Pass Christian took another step towards winning its first-ever region championship on the football field Friday night. The home-standing Pirates thumped Forrest County AHS 36-8 at McDonald Stadium in Region 8-4A action.
The win moves Pass to a solid 6-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. A win over Moss Point this week will secure the top seed in the region race for the first time ever in program history for the Pirates. Not since the implementation of a state-wide playoff system 44 years ago has PCHS ever won a district or region title.
Pass QB1 Paris Trivillion threw for 304 yards and three scores, hooking up with Amarie James on two touchdown passes and wide out Dwight Thomas on another. Trivillion also ran for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, home-standing Moss Point in all likelihood assured itself of a playoff berth Friday night.
The Tigers held off a late rally by Bay High to hold on for a close 14-13 win in Region 8-4A action. The win moves MPHS to just 2-5 overall, but much more importantly 1-1 in the region race. Bay High falls to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in league play.
After trailing 7-0 late in the first quarter, Moss Point bounced back to take a 14-7 halftime lead thanks to a touchdown on offense as well as one on defense.
Moss Point’s Jayden Brown raced 67-yards on a scoring run early in the second period to tie the game up after an extra point by Amarion Scott at 7-7.
Then, the MPHS defense provided the go-ahead score when defensive end Cedric McCrory picked up a fumble and sprinted 51-yards with a scoop and scored to give Moss Point that halftime 14-7 advantage.

Marcus Boyd provided the all-important extra point for MPHS.
Moss Point secured the win when Bay High botched a potential game-tying extra point late in the game after closing the gao to the final score.
