PASS CHRISTIAN — The Pass High Pirates (7-1, 3-0) scored on each of their first seven possessions on their way to a 49-0 shutout win over Moss Point (2-5, 1-2) and the first football region championship in program history.
Pass quarterback Paris Trivillion connected with two different receivers for the first three touchdowns, all in the first quarter. Then, with just over two minutes into the second quarter, he broke through the line of scrimmage out to the home sideline for a 47-yard keeper to put the Pirates up 28-0.
“Last week Paris had a good statistical night when you look at the overall picture, but he missed probably more key throws in key situations,” said Pirates coach Jeff Stockstill. “We focused on just trying to make him drive the ball in, be confident in himself, trust each other. There was no doubt in my mind we were going to put the ball in his hands.”

Stockstill said that he was extremely proud of winning the division championship because of what it means to the community of Pass Christian.
“It was a good day for the team, but it was a great day for the community and the school,” said Stockstill. “The hardest part about coaching high school kids is keeping that level head. This momentum’s been building, and it’s always been a goal of ours. I am happy to achieve this goal, but I am really happy for the town, and the school and all the people that have lived here, gone to school here. This is a long time coming: forty-something years.”
Pass Public School superintendent Carla Evers also weighed in on what the championship means to the community: “This just brings it all together,” said Dr. Evers. “Everyone knows us for academics, and we’re coming along quite nicely in athletics. Coach Stockstill and his staff has been working with our children to strengthen them. And this just brings it all together to fruition. We’re so proud of them. This speaks to what our children can do when they are pushed to greatness.”

Trivillion connected with senior wide receiver Dwight Thomas for a 31-yard scoring toss for the game’s first score with 8:30 remaining on the first quarter clock. Then, 16 seconds later, following a Moss Point fumble on their first snap, he connected with Larkin Lewis for a 19-yard score to give the Pirates a 14-0 lead with 8:14 left on the first quarter clock. On their third possession, he found Lewis again this time for an 18-yard scoring toss and a 21-0 lead with 3:18 remaining in the first quarter.
The Pirates would add three more touchdowns in the second quarter as Trivillion capped a 74-yard drive with the 47-yard keeper. Cecil Lizana carried from 3 yards out to increase the lead to 35-0 at the 6:40 mark of the second quarter. Trivillion closed out the first-half scoring with a 10-yard keeper to give the Pirates a 42-0 lead going into halftime
With a running clock in the third quarter, the Trivillion closed out the game’s scoring with a 7-yard keeper with 3:35 remaining on the third quarter clock, capping a huge night with three scores on the ground and three passing scores.

Junior kicker Kaiden Mooney was successful on all seven PAT kicks on the night.
On the other side of the ball, the Tigers struggled to move the ball as they were held to eight first downs on the night.
“Our young guys are getting experience and getting to see how this all works, how it goes,” said Moss Point coach Derrick Jenkins. “We had a few bright spots on offense. We had our freshman wide receiver, Terrence Coleman caught a one-handed fade ball. Keelan Harper, our sophomore quarterback – they disguised coverages and it kind of confused him – but as the game progressed, he kind of picked it up.
“We’re learning and we’re seeing what’s happening in front of us and we can adjust to it,” said Jenkins. “I was disappointed in our defense tonight., but we tackled well.”
