A quartet of “Southern Six” teams fell in their respective region play Friday night.
In Region 4-5A, both Vancleave and East Central lost as the Bulldogs fell to Wayne County 41-30 and the Hornets were shutout by Northeast Jones 21-0.
In Waynesboro, War Eagles running back Steven Morgan registered four rushing touchdowns to lead once mighty Wayne County to its first win of the season after six straight losses. The War Eagles are 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the region race, while Vancleave drops to 1-1 in league play and below .500 overall at 3-4.

Bulldog running back Kyle Capers ran for three touchdowns himself, including his last one less than a minute into the fourth quarter that put VHS up 30-27.
But the War Eagles bounced right back as Moran ran for his last two touchdowns of the night to seal the deal and snap a seven game losing streak dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, in Laurel, Northeast Jones evened its region mark up at 1-1 as well after a loss to Vancleave last week with a shutout performance over East Central.

Offensively, the Tigers got a pair of touchdown runs from sophomore running back Bryson Dyess and defensively NEJ forced four Hornet turnovers on the night.
Despite those miscues, East Central hung in there and the Tigers led just 7-0 with just over eight minutes to play before NEJ closed it out with two more scores when AJ Pugh scored on a 14-yard run with 7:11 left in the game and Dyess scored for the second time from nine yards out with 4:56 to go in the game for the final margin.
The Tigers are 4-3 overall while ECHS dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in Region 4-5A play.

Also, in Region 8-4A play Friday night, Bay High fell 42-0 to visiting Greene County.
The Tigers fell to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in league play with the loss. The Wildcats are now 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the region race.
Meanwhile, in Region 8-1A play, Lumberton thumped visiting Resurrection 37-3 to drop the Eagles to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.
