GULFPORT — Ocean Springs stayed within striking distance of the top spot in Region 4-7A Friday night.
An open date last week seemed to have no effect whatsoever on the Greyhounds, as they went on the road and walloped West Harrison 56-21 in league play. The win moves OSHS to 7-1 overall and, more importantly 3-1 in the region race, while the Hurricanes fell to 6-3 overall and are now 2-3 in league action.

Ocean Spring senior standout running back Solomon Baggett ran roughshod through the Hurricane defense all night, rushing for 203 yards on just 10 carries and four touchdowns in the winning effort.
Baggett tallied two touchdowns in the first half, including one on a 55-yard scoring scamper, as OSHS actually overcame an early first quarter deficit to take a 28-21 halftime lead.

He then added another pair of scoring runs in the second half as the Greyhounds broke the game open, including a 60-yard touchdown dash to basically seal the deal at 42-21 with just over two minutes to play in the third frame.
Sharroid Whitehead ad Ian Harlan each added touchdown runs for OSHS in the first half, while defensive back Landon Donald chipped in a pick six in the fourth frame and offensive tackle Jayden Ross plunged in for a short rushing touchdown to end the scoring.

West Harrison running back Jordan Stapleton ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter to put the Hurricanes up 14-7 before Baggett and his galloping group of Greyhounds came roaring back.
