BAY ST. LOUIS — Xavier Dennis of Picayune gets the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” as presented by SouthMiss6 Sports this week.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

Dennis, yet another in a long line of super productive Maroon Tide running backs, exploded for 371 rushing yards and four touchdowns in a 42-7 Region 4-6A win over Long Beach last week.

Picayune is averaging 46 points per game in league play so far, and Dennis is a big reason why. He has rushed for 711 yards rushing in just the last two games, including a 340-yard outing on just 16 carries in a 59-28 thumping of Hancock the previous week when he ran for three touchdowns for the Maroon Tide, who at 7-1 sit atop the weekly “Super 7 in the Southern 6” Poll this week.

Dennis and his Maroon Tide are looking for their 28th straight region win as they head to Vaughan-Wallace Stadium on the campus of Gautier High to take on the Gators Halloween night. Picayune is 3-0 in the region race, while Gautier is 1-2. With a win, Picayune would clinch its fifth straight region title which would extend the program record.
