We noticed a few playoff items as we head full speed into this important week of the postseason.
Picayune is hosting a south state opening round playoff game for the eighth straight season. It is by far the longest such streak in the “Southern Six”.
The Maroon Tide has also kicked off the postseason in nine out of the past 10 seasons. Picayune also has qualified for the state playoffs for the 21st consecutive campaign, which is also by far the longest such streak in the “Southern Six”.

On the other side of the ledger, St. Patrick hasn’t hosted a state playoff game in 17 years, since 2008.
Also, Long Beach is stuck in the longest playoff drought. The Bearcats haven’t earned a postseason berth in 14 years, since th2 2011 season.
