OCEAN SPRINGS — Both Ocean Springs basketball squads head to Moss Point Tuesday night as the new season enters week three.
And the Greyhounds will head east coming off of a bounce back win over another east Jackson County foe late last week and with a full team with some added reinforcements.
Home-standing OSHS bounced Pascagoula in Hubbard Gymnasium Thursday 55-47 to move to 3-1 on the young campaign. The Greyhounds were coming off of a close 51-47 road loss to home-standing Hattiesburg two days earlier.

“I like where we’re at and how we’re competing early on,” OSHS third-year head coach Colin Goley said. “We took one on the chin in Hattiesburg but we had a nice response against Pascagoula. Guys are committed to the process and our focus is to be consistent day in and day out.”In the win over Pascagoula, the Greyhounds got a game-high 22 points from point guard Christian Cowan, including five-of-eight from 3-point range. He also pulled down eight rebounds, barely missing a double-double.
Jeremie Packer was also right on the edge of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Easton Bahr chipped in nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.
Panther senior standout guard Blake Nettles registered a double-double in the loss, with 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Marcus Cooper added 13 points for PHS.

Both the Greyhounds and the Panthers were playing the game without several key contributors as the football programs from both schools were involved in the on-going state playoffs. However, due to Brandon’s upset of OSHS Friday night in the opening round of the Class 7A South State playoffs, Goley has just about his full team with him as they head to Haynes Gym in Moss Point on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, also Tuesday night Gautier hosts George County in both boys and girls action.
The Rebels are off to a quick 5-1 start after dispatching Stone Saturday 68-59 in the finals of Perry Central Invitational Tournament.
