GAUTIER — The George County girls created the start of what would end up in a clean sweep of Gautier Tuesday night in prep basketball action featuring an all “Southern Six” match-up.
The Lady Rebels bounced the Lady Gators 42-28. The win moved the GCHS girls to 4-2 on the young season, while Gautier hasn’t quite found its footing yet at 1-5 overall.




Ava Hall led the Lady Rebels with a game-high 20 points and she also had five steals. Kayelin Blackston and Kyla Turner each chipped in eight points apiece to the winning effort, while Delanie McNair had a game-high 12 rebounds and she also added six steals.
George County was up just slightly by two at halftime, 15-13, but the Lady Rebels bested that first half output in the third frame alone out-scoring the Lady Gators 16-6 to take a commanding double digit lead at 31-19 heading to the final period.




Gautier got a double-double from Lauryn Powell with 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and 11 boards, as well as nine points from Amber Guyton on three treys as well.
Both George County travels to Greene County Thursday night while both Gautier teams head to Bay High Thursday night.
After the Lady Rebel win Tuesday night, the Rebels followed with a 51-43 win to make it a clean sweep for the Lucedale squads.
