As usual, there are plenty of holiday prep basketball tournaments spread across the state of Mississippi this week as well as in the “Southern Six”.
D’Iberville as a one day affair set for Monday, while George County, Hancock and St. Martin are all set to tip-off two days events beginning on Monday as well.
At St. Martin, the two host teams as well as the Moss Point, Presbyterian Christian and Mobile Christian girls are all competing and on the boys side of the ledger PCS, MCHS and Alma Bryant round out the field.
The event is known as the “Dina Holland” Thanksgiving Invitational and is a true tournament style format with winners facing winners and losers facing losers on Tuesday to wrap things up.


Meanwhile, in Lucedale, at the third annual “Rudolph Sellers Holiday Invitational”, both George County High squads host and are joined by both Perry Central teams as well as the East Central and Greene County boys and the Vancleave and Lumberton girls.
This affair is also a true tournament style format with winners playing winners and losers playing losers in final day play on Tuesday.
The schedule for Monday is this: (Same times for Tuesday)
- 4 pm — Vancleave girls vs Lumberton girls
- 5:30 pm — Greene County Boys vs East Central
- 7 pm pm — Perry Central girls vs George County
- 8:30 pm — George County Boys vs Perry Central boys.


Also, in the Kiln, the Hancock boys and girls are hosting the two day “Hancock County Thanksgiving Tournament” featuring 10 games with teams from all across the state in action.
A mostly female affair, teams involved are the host Lady Hawks, Biloxi, Ocean Springs and Bay High as well as Lafayette, Madison Ridgeland Academy, East Rankin and Daphne, Ala.
The three boys’ teams competing are the host Hawks, OSHS and East Rankin.
There are five varsity games each day scheduled.
In addition, St. Stanislaus is slated for three days of action in Madeville, La, in the Lakeshore High Thanksgiving Tournament where the Rock-A-Chaws will face three different Louisiana squads over a three day span Monday-Wednesday.
