D’IBERVILLE — The D’Iberville boys basketball teams is off to a solid start to the new season after a big win in their own holiday event Monday night.
The Warriors, under the direction of head coach Eric Vianney, stand 5-1 overall three weeks into the young campaign, after beating back Northeast Lauderdale 57-47 in the 2025 D’Iberville Thanksgiving Classic.

The home team got six points apiece from Landon Nichols (on two 3-pointers), Jeremiah Huntley and Jaylen Johnson in the first half, but still trailed the Trojans 26-23 at halftime thanks to 11 points by Northeast Lauderdale’s Stephen Lightsey which included a trio of treys in that point total.
The Trojans managed to maintain that slight three-point advantage throughout the third frame, and headed into the fourth period up 39-36.
However, the fourth quarter belonged decidedly to the Warriors.

D’Iberville got nine points from Johnson and five points from Logan Gildea down the stretch, including a key 3-pointer from each, and went on to outscore the visitors 21-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.
Johnson paced the Warriors with a game-high 17 points, while Huntley was close behind with 16 points. Huntley had six points in the third quarter for DHS to keep his team within striking distance leading into the decisive final frame. Nichols chipped in nine points to the winning effort.
Lightsey led the Trojans with 15 points, but had just a basket in each of the last two quarters.
The Warriors are off until Tuesday when they travel to Resurrection.
