Former Ocean Springs High standout Bray Hubbard wrapped up the regular season at Alabama in fine fashion.
Hubbard, a safety for the Crimson Tide, was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning. The honor comes thanks to his play in Saturday’s 27-20 win over arch-rival Auburn on the road in the annual Iron Bowl.
The honor is the second of the 2025 campaign for Hubbard, who picked up identical honors following Alabama’s 38-14 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 13. The weekly distinction also raises the Crimson Tide’s total to 10 weekly awards this season.

“He was working through some sickness and stuff like that .. not a huge deal … but that’s what you would expect from Bray. He’s tough. He’s resilient. Tonight, saw that out there, him just gutting it out.” said Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer on Hubbard’s play.
Hubbard Played a key role for the Crimson Tide in the important win that moved them into this week’s SEC championship game against Georgia. He intercepted a pass late in the third quarter as the Tigers were driving deep into Alabama territory for a potential game-tying score He also forced a fumble with just under 40 seconds left in regulation, stalling the AU drive and allowing time for the Tide to bleed the clock on the way to the eventual win. And, he added two solo stops on the night.

The Crimson Tide moved up a spot in the College Football Playoff Rankings that were released Tuesday night.
After the win over Auburn, the Crimson Tide leapfrogged Notre Dame and moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the latest CFP rankings.
The SEC title tilt is a rematch from a regular season game in which Alabama beat Georgia .
Georgia hasn’t lost since it dropped the game to the Tide. The Bulldogs enter the game 11-1 on the season, 7-1 in SEC play, and is the No. 3 team in the nation according to the Associated Press media poll, updated on Sunday.
Hubbard talked to reporters on Tuesday about the challenge of facing a team twice.
“It’s difficult,” Hubbard said. “They got a great team. Obviously things changed from when we played them earlier in the season, it’s been a couple months. Everybody changes throughout the season, everybody gets better, so we got to keep preparing and get better also, each day.”
