KILN — Gulfport’s boys basketball team remained unbeaten on the young season with a commanding 57-23 win over home-standing Hancock Tuesday night.
The Admirals jumped out to a quick and resounding 20-0 lead after the first period and never looked back, in moving to 5-0 on the year so far. The Hawks fell to 1-7 overall.

Gulfport big man Morris Robertson tallied nine points, including a 3-pointer, in the opening period to get his Admirals off to that fast start and the visitors never looked back.
Robertson registered a game-high 20 points in the win for the Admirals, while Denzel Jackson and Tavarus Brown each added eight points apiece for GHS.
Israel Makoka had eight points for Hancock.

Gulfport has played a few games fewer than most of the other “Southern Six” squads so far, due in large part to the cancellation of the Picayune Thanksgiving Tournament last week. The game against Hancock was the first for GHS after a 10-day lay off.
Gulfport is under the direction of second year head coach Brian Butler, who will lead his team into Lyman Saturday afternoon to face Teurlings (La.) Catholic in the annual Mississippi/Louisiana/Alabama Challenge at Harrison Central High School.

Hancok was on the road at St. Martin Thursday night.
