KILN — The Hancock girls held up their end of the bargain in one big early season showdown this week and in the process set up yet another by sliding past Gulfport 48-39 Tuesday night.
The win over the previously unbeaten Lady Admirals pushes the Lady Hawks to 6-2 overall, as they head to St. Martin to face the 7-1 Lady Yellow Jackets Thursday night.

Home-standing Hancock jumped out to a quick 11-3 lead after the first quarter, thanks to four points by new forward Paityn Langley and a 3-pointer apiece from both Lexi Dreher and Madalyn Hoda.
The Lady Hawks were right back at it in the second period, steadily expanding their lead into double digits to take a commanding 20-point lead headed into halftime.
Langley stepped up to put down eight points in the stanza while Hoda nailed two more treys and Lexi Ladner dropped in a 3-pointer as well as HHS out-scored the Lady Admirals 17-5 in the frame to grab a comfortable 28-8 advantage at intermission and roll on to the win.

Gulfport rallied late to barely cut the final deficit into single digits.
Langley, a Long Beach transfer, tallied a game-high 20 points to lead the Lady Hawks in the win, while Hoda chipped in 11 points
Gulfport got nine points apiece from Majori Avery, Alayah Hoyett and Nya Childres in the loss, that dropped the Lady Admirals to 7-1 overall and a solid start to the new season.
