St. MARTIN — In perhaps the biggest game of the new pre basketball season so far, the Biloxi girls head to St. Martin to open Region 4-7A play Tuesday night.
The Lady Indians and Lady Yellow Jackets, who have battled one another for the last couple of league titles, have both enjoyed a good measure of success so far this season as Biloxi heads across the county line with an impressive 8-1 record while St. Martin stands a solid 7-1 overall.
Both teams are coming off of big home wins in their latest outings, as the Lady Indians thumped Madison Central 62-42 Friday night.

Biloxi Prep All-American center Zaniya Johnson achieved another big double-double in the win, as she poured in a game-high 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and she also blocked six shots in the win. Guard Jayla Carriere chipped in 18 points, while point guard Na’Kenya Terry dished out seven assists and Aubrey Madden also had eight boards as the home team dominated in the rebounding department.
Meanwhile, on Thursday night, St. Martin beat visiting Hancock 45-35.
The Lady Yellow Jackets got a game-high 15 points from Kylenn Ward as well as nine points from Kiyara Lee and seven points from Emma Chester in the winning effort.

For Hancock. Paityn Langley led the way with 10 points while both Lexie Ladner and Madalyn Hoda had seven points apiece.
St. Martin followed up that win with a 59-24 bombing of West Florida (Pensacola) in the last game of the annual “Girls Hoopsfest” at St. Martin High.
Ward was on top for the Lady Yellow Jackets again with 19 points, while Janilla Curtis and Chester had nine points apiece and Dalazyia Mayes finished with eight points.
The Yellow Jackets and Indians will face off after the girls’ game Tuesday night also.
