PASCAGOULA — Class 1A Resurrection continued it’s solid play against much larger competition Thursday night.
The Eagles clipped visiting Vancleave 78-50 to move to 7-3 overall. It was the second win of the season for RCS over the Bulldogs, and the Eagles have also registered a pair of wins over Class 6A foes and dropped a close 3-point decision to Class 7A opponent D’Iberville last week.





Gian Vera tallied. game-high 19 points to pace RCS in his first action back after missing a couple of games with a slight injury. Tyrese Ricardo chipped in 16 points to the winning effort, while Denzel Eaton added 12 points.
However, it was Keyshawn Nesbitt that set the tone early for RCS as he put in six points in the first frame to help stake the home team to a quick double digit lead entering the second stanza at 20-9. Simeon Ballard pair of baskets leading up to halftime helped RCS go into intermission up 36-25, as Maddox Henley dropped in five points for the Bulldogs to keep his team within striking distance.





But Viera and Ricardo stepped up in the third period and combined for 14 points including threee 3-pointers and the Eagles went on to cruise to the win.
Brantley Thomason nailed a trio of treys for Vancleave in the game to finish with nine points, while Brayden Woodworth and Cole Norton each had eight points apiece.
