GULFPORT — The West Harrison boys came away with a big win in an important Region 4-7A showdown Friday night.
The Hurricanes slipped past 47-42 Friday night in a very early battle for the top spot in the league race. The win kept West Harrison perfect at 12-0 on the season, and head coach Jeff Norwood’s crew is 2-0 in the loop.
Logan Robinson had 11 points for WHHS, as did De’Andre Weston, while Weston’s total included a trio of huge 3-pointers in a decisive fourth frame as the Hurricanes out-scored the Indians 24-18 down the stretch to pull out the game. Kameron Bolden also added nine points for WHHS.

The Indians got 10 points apiece from Jakylen Edwards and Sevaun George as well as nine points from Carnellus Lenard in the decision.
Biloxi dropped to 6-3 overall with its second loss in less than 24 hours when the Indians fell to host St. Stanislaus 46-43 Saturday afternoon in the annual War on the Shore in Bay St. Louis.
Biloxi will play its third game in four days Monday night when the Indians host D’Iberville in Region 4-7A action. The loss to the Hurricanes was the second consecutive close decision in league play for the Indians, who opened region action with a 59-52 win over St. Martin in overtime Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes, who opened Region 4-7A play with a five-point win over visiting Ocean Springs 41-36 on Tuesday, step outside of league play Tuesday with a trip to Bay High before bouncing back into the loop two days later and remaining on the road with a visit to St. Martin.

Also, Gulfport, the defending Region 4-7A champs, is off to a 2-0 start as well and faces two key league contests this week on the road at OSHS Tuesday and then against arch-rival Biloxi Friday.
