Prep Basketball: Lady Admirals bounce back with win over Lady Greyhounds

OCEAN SPRINGS — The Gulfport girls bounced back from their first Region 4-7A loss of the season in fine fashion.
The Lady Admirals knocked off home-standing Ocean Springs 50-34 Tuesday night to move to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the region race. The Lady Greyhounds, after a pretty solid 8-1 start, have dropped three of thir last four games and now sit at 9-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.

After taking a slight 12-10 lead after one quarter, Gulfport got nine points in the second stanza from Trinity Moore, including a 3-pointer, and steadily stretched that advantage out to 24-15 at halftime.
In the third frame, Majori Avery drained a pair of treys for the Lady Admirals and Moore added five more points, including another triple, as GHS took complete command at 41-25 and went on to take the win.
Moore posted a game-high 16 points to guide Gulfport to the win, while Avery added 10 points.

Starr Jackson led the Lady Greyhounds with 12 points, while KaMarrah Jimmerson added nine points and Nyla Newsome had eight points for OSHS.
Both teams remain in Region 4-7A play to finish out the week, as OSHS heads to Harrison Central Thursday night and Gulfport travels to arch-rival Biloxi Friday night.
