ST. MARTIN — For the second straight season, the West Harrison girls are off to an impressive start heading into the Christmas break.
Only this season, its on a larger stage.
The Lady ‘Canes belted home-standing St. Martin 51-33 in Region 4-7A action Thursday night, moving to 13-1 overall and 3-1 in the region race with the win. West Harrison started last season off at 17-1 entering the break, but that was in Class 6A play and the program was elevated to Class 7A over the summer.

West Harrison set the tone early and often against St. Martin, as Sydnei Barber hit five points including a 3-pointer in the opening quarter and Jazz’ya Craighead converted five-of-six free throws en route to seven points in that period and the Lady ‘Canes led comfortably at 19-8 entering the second stanza.
Barber had four more points in that quarter while Kennedie Magee nailed a trey and WHHS slowly stretched that double digit lead out to a commanding 28-13 margin at halftime and the Lady ‘Canes never looked back.
Barber registered a game-high 17 points to pace WHHS to the win, while Craighead chipped in 15 points to the game-winning cause.

St. Martin, which dropped to 9-4 overall and 0-3 in league play with the loss, got 13 points from Kaleah Lowery thanks in large part to four 3-pointers.
The Lady Jackets were off to a pretty solid start to the season at 9-1 at one point, but since then St. Martin has incurred three straight league losses as they head into their own Christmas break.
