METARIE, La. — And then there was none.
The final unbeaten boys prep basketball squad in the “Southern Six” suffered its first loss Saturday, as St. Stanislaus fell on the road here to Country Day High just outside of New Orleans 53-48.
The loss drops the Rock-A-Chaws to 12-1 overall on the season. The Rocks are still of to their best start to a season since 2006 when they started the season at 10-0 as well as their most impressive beginning to a campaign since winning their only state championship in 2011.

St. Stanislaus 6-foot-7 senior standout Max Baria, who was recently named to the prestigious Dandy Dozen team by The Jackson Clarion-Ledger, paced SSC Saturday with 15 points and six rebounds while classmate Alan Gilliam matched that 15 point performance and also had three steals and three assists. Guard Rafael Cohen added 10 points and four steals for the Rocks.
The Cajuns moved to 8-3 with the win.
The Rocks were coming off a week’s rest coming into the game, after knocking off Class 7A Biloxi in the annual “War on the Shore” event seven days prior. It marked the first win for SSC over the Indians since winning that state title 14 years ago.

The loss was the first in four outings against Louisiana competition for SSC this season, after the Rocks swept three games in three days at the annual Lakeshore Thanksgiving Tournament in Mandeville, La., three weeks ago.
St. Stanislaus was originally slated to play one more game before taking a brief break for Christmas, but the game this week against Pearl River Central has been cancelled.
Next up for the Rocks will be a nine day break beofre they head to Bert Jenkins Gym in Gulfport for the annual Admiral Holiday classic. It marks the first action in the event for SSC in 13 years, since finishing seventh in the 2012 Admiral Hardwood Club Holiday Classic.
