After a trio of senior standout “Southern Six” prep basketball male products were named Dandy Dozen recently, a pair of powerful junior post players on the female side of the ledger have been honored as well.

Both Biloxi’s Zaniya Johnson and Harrison Central’s Saniyah Murray were recently selected to the prestigious Girls Dandy Dozen team, as announced annually by The Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

The two powerful inside post products have been instrumental in getting their respective teams off to impressive starts so far this season.

Here’s is what the C-L said about Johnson:

Zaniya Johnson

Biloxi | Junior

6-4 | Forward

The sophomore averaged 14.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and two blocks. She holds offers from South Carolina, Oklahoma and Providence, among others.

This is the second straight season that Johnson has been named a Dandy Dozen, after first being selected as a sophomore last season.

After guiding Biloxi to the Class 7A overall Final Four round last season, she has helped lead the Lady Indians to a solid 12-1 start so far this season.

Saniyah Murray

Harrison Central | Junior

6-4 | Forward

Murray averaged 17.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks and holds offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Houston and Memphis, among others.

Murray is a first time Dandy Dozen pick after bursting upon the “Southern Six” scene in full force last season for first-year HCHS head coach Sandra Rushing.

Murray has paved the way for the Red Rebelettes to open up the current campaign as the lone unbeaten squad in the “Southern Six” left standing entering the Christmas break as they sit a perfect 13-0 so far.
