KILN — The overall record for the Hancock girls basketball team may not be quite as impressive at the Christmas break as it has been over the past several seasons.
But where it matters most the Lady Hawks are still flying high.
Hancock sits just 9-5 overall after facing some tough competition in the pre-Christmas portion of its schedule, but after a comfortable 57-24 road win over Pascagoula last week the Lady Hawks are 2-0 in Region 4-6A play.

The win was the 26th straight league win for Hancock head coach Jamie Sisco and his crew, dating back over two years to Dec. 8th, 2023. The Lady Hawks are gunning for their third straight Region 4-6A title this season.
In the win over Pascagoula, Madalyn Hoda led a balanced winning attack with 15 points that included a trio of 3-pointers. In fact, her seven first period points that featured her first long range trey helped Hancock jump out to a 14-10 lead heading into the second stanza.
It was in that period that the Lady Hawks began to take command, as Hancock newcomer Paityn Langley tallied seven points and HHS stretched its advantage out to double digits at 25-12 heading into halftime.
Lexie Dreher added 11 points for Hancock in the win, while Lexi Ladner finished with eight points. Langley, the Long Beach transfer, ended up with nine points for the Lady Hawks.

Audrey Patterson scored seven points to pace Pascagoula.
Hancock opened region play in a similar fashion with a 51-28 win over Pearl River Central. Langley had 16 points for HHS and Gabby Moore scored 10 points for the Lady Devils.
Sandwiched between those two wins for the Lady Hawks were a pair of tough losses on the road to Class 7A opposition, 45-27 to Northwest Rankin and 48-37 to Madison Central.
In the loss to MCHS, the Lady Jaguars got a game-high 25 points out of sophomore Dandy Dozen standout Karley Robinson. Langley tallied 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Hancock.
