HATTIESBURG — A trio of “Southern Six” prep basketball squads won’t have much time to shake off all of that Christmas Day dinner and all the fixings as all three will be back into action on the hardwood before there’s even a chance for a leftover fried turkey sandwich or two.
And that’s because those three squads, two boys’ teams and one on the female front, are all headed for Hattiesburg Friday morning to take part in the annual Hattiesburg Coca-Cola Holiday Tournament.

The two-day, 16 team event features 16 Mississippi squads with eight games scheduled per day on both Friday and Saturday before tourney champs are crowned in the true “tournament style” annual affair on Saturday night.
Both teams from Moss Point High are once again involved, as is the Gulfport boys team for the first time this year as well.
The MPHS Tigers are first up Friday afternoon taking on Jefferson Davis County, followed by their female counterparts against Laurel and then Gulfport takes on Brandon.
