PASCAGOULA — The Resurrection boys stand a a solid 10-3 in the midst of a two week break for the holiday.
The Eagles arrived at the lay-off on a six game win streak, with the latest decision a 79-70 road win over Class 5A foe Stone. The win marked the sixth of the season for the Class 1A Eagles over competition in the three largest classifications (Class 7A-5A) so far for RCS.
In the win over the Tomcats, Gian Vera paced four Eagles in double digits with 20 points, and he also added seven assists to the winning effort. Keyshawn Nebitt chipped in 18 points and six assists for RCS, while Gianfranco Diaz posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Tyrese Ricard also produced a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Denzel Eaton had eight points and three steals, while Simeon Ballard added six points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.


The loss overshadowed an impressive outing from Stone standout senior Jabari Moye, who poured in a game-high 29 points, grabbed seven boards and dished out seven assists. Classmate Cleon Johnson added 20 points for the Tomcats, and feshman Elijah Bostic had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Stone is now 6-9, after bouncing back from the loss to the Eagles with a 61-38 win over St. Patrick.
Johnson had 16 points, five steals and six assists in that game, while Moye contributed 13 points and nine assists to the winning effort. Brody Farmer finished with 12 points and seven boards.
Stone faces host Bay High Monday afternoon in the annual Bay High Christmas Tournament at The Tigerdome.
Resurrection, meanwhile, was coming off of a 84-29 thumping of Jackson County foe East Central prior to the win over Stone.


Vera also led RCS in that contest with a game-high 21 points, while Ricardo recorded another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Nesbit chipped in a double-double also with 15 points and 10 assists, and Eaton added 14 points and Diaz had 11 points and nine boards.
Next up for RCS is a match-up with Perry Central at the annual Panther Classic in Pascagoula next Saturday.
Cole Harville and Anthony Bonfiglio had six points apiece for the Hornets in the loss to RCS, and Bonfiglio snatched down a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Hornets are now 6-9 overall after bouncing back from that loss and heading into the holiday break with a 47-32 win over Gautier.
Brody Howard had 11 points and five assists for the Hornets in that outing, while Bonfiglio just missed a double-double with eight points and 13 boards. Trey Maryland also had eight points for ECHS, and Harville added 12 rebounds while both K.J. Hooks and K.J. Spence each had seven points apiece.
