GULFPORT — It was a tale of two different outcomes for the pair of Region 4-7A squads competing in the 42nd annual Admiral Holiday Classic here at Bert Jenkins Gym on the campus of Gulfport High Monday night.
The host Admirals hammered Laurel 78-37 in the final game of first day play, and just prior to that D’Iberville dropped a hard-fought 54-46 decision to Terry.
Gulfport will now face Pass Christian in an all “Southern Six” semifinal match-up at 7:30 Tuesday night.

The Admirals got 13 points apiece from both Denzel Jackson and Dillion McInnis in the big win over the Golden Tornadoes, while Jeffrey Isabell had 10 points, Travor Frost nine points and Adrain Martin eight points in the winning effort.
Gulfport moved to 12-1 overall with the win. The Admirals are looking for their first title in their own Holiday Classic basketball tournament in 13 years, since 2012.
Meanwhile, D’Iberville led just slightly at 39-38 entering the final frame against Terry.
But the Bulldogs rallied down the stretch to outscore the Warriors 16-7, thanks in large part to six points from Tyler Lyles and five points from Keshawn Jones, including a key 3-pointer, to pull out the win.
Xavion Hawkins had 16 points to led Terry to the win.
