PASCAGOULA — A pair of “Southern Six” boys basketball squads with their sights set on making some noise in the upcoming state playoffs face off Saturday night.

And that makes the Pass Christian vs. Resurrection game in the annual Panther Classic this week’s “Vertical Raise Game of the Week” for SouthMiss6 Sports.

Each week during the prep football season, SouthMiss6 Sports will feature a “GOTW” sponsored by Vertical Raise, the premier online fundraising platform for athletic teams and associated clubs and supporters of all ages.

This match-up is the penultimate game of the annual affair in Pascagoula, set to tip off at 6:30 p.m., and marks the first match-up between the two teams in almost 30 years, since the mid-1990’s.

The Resurrection boys stand at a solid 10-3 and are coming off of a two week break for the holiday.

The Eagles arrived at the lay-off on a six game win streak, with the latest decision a 79-70 road win over Class 5A foe Stone. The win marked the sixth of the season over competition in the three largest classifications (Class 7A-5A) so far for RCS.
