Prep Basketball: Bay High bounces Moss Point Saturday afternoon 58-43

MOSS POINT — New Bay High head boy’s basketball coach Aaron Dunklin picked up his first-ever Region 8-4A win Saturday.
Thanks in large part to Tiger senior standout Anthony Robinson.
Bay High bounced home-standing Moss Point 58-43 in the region-opener for both teams here at Haynes Gym in an afternoon matinee affair. With the win, which was the fifth straight for Dunklin’s crew, the Bay High Tigers move to an even 10-10 overall while the MPHS Tigers fall to 3-16 on the season so far.

Robinson poured in a game-high 25 points and also had eight assists and seven rebounds to lead the game-winning attack, while both Jaxon Meranto and A.J. Dunklin scored 10 points apiece for BHS..
Moss Point actually jumped out to a slight 12-11 advantage after the first period, thanks in part to eight points in that opening stanza by versatile multi-sport standout Terrence Coleman.
But Robinson took over in the second stanza, recording 10 points to help his Tigers outscore the home-standing ones 17-14 as Bay High took a 28-26 lead into halftime.

Bay High started the second half on a 9-0 run, that included a 3-pointer by Carson Brown and two baskets by Robinson, to take it’s first double-digit lead at 37-26 and Moss Point cut the deficit below eight just once the rest of the way.

Moss Point got 19 points and seven rebounds from Andru Burks, while Coleman added 10 points and also pulled down seven boards in the loss.
