Prep Basketball: Lady Yellow Jackets thump Lady Warriors

D’IBERVILLE — The St. Martin girls opened the 2026 portion of their schedule in fine fashion earlier this week.
The Lady Yellow Jackets thumped home-standing D’Iberville 56-10 in Region 4-7A action. The win was the first in league play for St. Martin this season, as it sits 11-5 overall and 1-3 in the region race.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors drop to 4-11 overall and are still looking for their first league win at 0-4.
St. Martin senior standout Kaleah Lowery tallied 11 points in the first quarter, including a 3-pointer, to get her Lady Yellow Jackets off to a quick and commanding start at 20-0 after the opening period and the visitors never looked back in storming to the win.
Ten different players got into the scoring column for SMHS, as head coach Jason Kennedy emptied his bench in the second half. Lowery’s 16 points, all coming in the first half, was a game-high total to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Both teams are back in region play Friday night, as St. Martin hosts Gulfport and D’Iberville travels to West Harrison.

Gulfport comes to Jackson County with a five game winning streak in tow, as the Lady Admirals resume Region 4-7A play. Gulfport is 2-2 in the region race.
