GULFPORT — It was a good week for the West Harrison girls’ basketball team.
The Lady Hurricanes capped off a perfect 3-0 five day stretch Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 56-47 win over visiting Our Lady Academy, which marked the seventh straight win for West Harrison which now stands 16-1 heading into the final three weeks of regular season action.

West Harrison got 18 points from Sydnei Barber in its latest win, and she also had four steals and four assists against OLA. Kennedie McGee chipped in 14 points to the winning effort, while Jazlee Deschamp had seven points and Taylor Rae Norwood added five rebounds and five steals in a solid effort.
OLA versatile multi-sport standout Taylor Henley tallied a game-high 19 points in the losing effort, while Leah Laporte added 10 points for the Crescents.

The win for West Harrison marked the second in less than 24 hours, after the Lady ‘Canes thumped D’Iberville 52-22 in Region 4-7A play Friday night.
Barber again led the way for the Lady ‘Canes with a game-high 21 points in that one, scoring in just three quarters of play almost as much as the entire DHS team did the entire game. Michelle Jackson added 11 points for WHHS, and Jaza’ya Craighead had seven points.
Jaymie Guice scored eight points for D’Iberville.
West Harrison started the week off with a big league win over Harrison Central Tuesday night.
