BILOXI — On paper, Tuesday night’s Region 8-1A contest between St. Stanislaus and home-standing St. Patrick is a total mis-match.
After all, the highly-ranked Rock-A-Chaws are 16-3 and the Fighting Irish sit just 3-17.
However, St. Patrick is coming off of a big 59-53 win over Perry Central over the weekend and two of the three Fighting Irish wins have come in the past couple of weeks including a 49-47 decision over Wayne Academy just before Christmas.

So it appears that the Fighting Irish are in the best spot they have been all season to host their “Catholic League” arch-rivals in the first of what will be two match-ups over the final three weeks of the regular season.
St. Stanislaus, meanwhile, is coming off of a win Monday night but is just 2-2 over its past four games after starting the season off at 14-1.
On Monday night, the Rocks rolled into New Orleans and knocked off perennial Louisiana state power Brother Martin 57-42.

What St. Patrick will have to do Tuesday night is find an answer for SSC senior standout and Dandy Dozen big man Max Baria. All Baria did Monday night against the Crusaders was produce a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and he also blocked seven shots. Rafael Cohen chipped in 16 points to the winning cause for SSC, while Jason Forte added 12 points.
St. Patrick is also set to host the upcoming Region 8-3A Tournament early next month.
