Prep Basketball: Tomcats thump Vancleave 72-43 behind Moye’s big outing

WIGGINS — The Stone boys basketball team is still working to get back to even as far as its overall record for the current campaign is concerned.
The important part of that equation, however, is that the Tomcats are stacking up wins in Region 4-5A play in working through that process.
Stone thumped visiting Vancleave 72-43 Tuesday night to move to 3-1 in the region race and 9-12 overall.

The Tomcats got an outstanding overall effort from senior Jabari Moye in the win over the Bulldogs, as he poured in a game-high 34 points as well as grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out eight assists and snatching up five steals in leading the way to the comfortable win.
Cleon Johnson, Jr., chipped in 12 points to the winning attack, while both freshman Elijah Bostic and Z’Krian Thomas each pulled down six boards apiece.

Stone stands in the second slot in the region race, behind perennial state power Wayne County which is undefetaed at 17-0 overall and 4-0 in league play.
The Tomcats fell on the road to the War Eagles 70-39 last week.
Vancleave fell to 9-10 overall and 1-2 in the region race. The Bulldogs head to Waynesboro to face unbeaten WCHS Friday night.

Stone faces Purvis Friday night also.
