BAY ST. LOUIS — Versatile OLA standout Taylor Henley gets the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” this week.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

The sophomore, multi-sport standout Henley has been a catalyst so far in leading the Crescents to a solid 16-5 overall record this season with her all-around play and athleticism.

Our Lady Academy picked up a big win on the road over rival St. Patrick in Region 8-3A play Tuesday night.

The Crescents captured the battle for the second spot in the region standings, with an exciting 67-61 decision over the Lady Irish. The win moves OLA to 2-1 in the region race.

After trailing 35-27 at halftime, OLA bounced back with a strong second half outing, especially in a momentum-changing third frame, as Henley dropped in eight points and her freshman teammate Maria Galbreath notched seven points as the Crescents wrestled the lead away from SPHS at 44-41 entering the final frame.

From there, OLA kicked it into gear and steadily extended its lead down the stretch as Henley tallied 11 points in the fourth period, including a key early 3-pointer, and both Krissy Pavolini and Leah LaPorte each drained a pair of treys apiece to help the Crescents secure the win.

Henley also tallied 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a loss to Class 7A foe West Harrison on Saturday.

Henley, who has already won two state titles on the hardwood as a member of the perennial state power OLA volleyball team, leads her hoops squad back on the court Tuesday night as the Crescents resume Region 8-3A play facing Tylertown Tuesday.
