PASCAGOULA — Resurrection’s boys basketball team seemed to really enjoy the day out of school for the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday Monday.
And that’s because the Eagles had a lot of fun on the basketball court against visiting Bayshore Christian Academy.
Resurrection thumped the squad from Fairhope, Ala., 66-37 in an afternoon matinee affair. The win moves RCS to a solid 15-4 overall on the season, while Bayside, also known as the Eagles, fell to 12-9.

The home-standing version of the Eagles took complete command of the contest quickly, jumping out to an 18-3 lead after one quarter as Gian Vera and Keyshawn Nesbitt scored five points apiece in the period, and Vera’s total included a 3-pointer.
Vera went on to add three more treys, and tally a game-high 22 points to lead RCS to the win. Big man Simeon Ballard chipped in nine points, and Nesbitt added eight points for Resurrection.

RCS remains at home and jumps back into Region 8-1A play in a big way Thursday night with a key contest as Richton comes calling.

Resurrection will be looking for a little revenge against the Bulldogs, after Richton handed RCS its only league loss of the year so far earlier this month.
