BROOKLYN — So far, so good for the Pass Christian boys basketball team after the first round of play in Region 8-4A.
The Pirates moved to 4-0 in the region race with a close 64-61 road win here over Forrest County AHS Tuesday night. Pass Christian, under the direction of second-year head coach Robin Sikes, stands 14-9 overall, and the latest win moved PCHS into sole possession of first place in the loop one full game ahead of the Aggies, who are now 3-1 in league play.

“Lots of turnovers tonight, but that can be corrected,” Sikes said. “Great team effort.”
The Pirates got a standout performance from a pair of standout sophomores in the win, as Mario Burks posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Theo Hawkins, Jr., chipped in 13 points to the winning effort. Also, Sheldon Stapleton had six points and five rebounds for the Pirates and was a catalyst on the defensive end of things.

Pass Christian now returns home to remain in region play hosting Moss Point Friday night to begin the second round of league play. The Pirates thumped the Tigers on the road two weeks ago 62-36.
Moss Point is 3-20 overall and 0-5 in the region race after a 65-45 loss on the road to Bay High Tuesday. Andru Burkes had 14 points and seven rebounds for MPHS.
