BAY ST. LOUIS — St. Stanislaus traveled over 1,500 miles round trip over the weekend to play a pair of games in the Midwest.
And despite adding two more wins to what has already been a solid season, the Rocks returned home Sunday and now will face the most important part of their schedule so far.

St. Stanislaus finishes off the regular season over the next two week with four straight Region 8-3A games, including three at home in the friendly confines of Brother Peter Gym, as head coach Daniel Grieves’ squad looks to defend its regular season top seed in the loop.
First up, the second meeting in two weeks against arch-rival St. Patrick Tuesday night.
The Rocks beat both Dunlap and Illini Bluffs, a pair of Illinois opponents, in the annual Metamora Redbird Roundball Classic. St. Stanislaus nipped Dunlap 43-40 on Friday night and followed that up with an impressive 63-48 win over IBHS Saturday afternoon.

The participation of the Rocks in the annual affair came thanks to Grieves’ assistant coach and father Danny Grieves, who coached at Metamora for for almost a decade and won a state title there as well.
The two wins push SSC to a solid 20-4 overall on the season. Also, the Rocks carry a perfect 4-0 mark in league play into the resumption of the region race this week.
The Rocks won the first meeting against St. Patrick on the road in convincing fashion 67-13. After facing the Fighting Irish, SSC travels to Tylertown Friday night before hosting both West Marion and Presbyterian Christian next week to close out the regular season.
St. Patrick will host the region tournament. The Fighting Irish come in to the week at 3-20 overall and at 0-6 in league play.
