PASCAGOULA — Resurrection celebrated senior night Friday against Stringer.
But it was a junior who enjoyed himself the most for the Eagles.
Big man Simeon Ballard tallied 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds, as home-standing RCS smashed the Red Devils 72-38 in Region 8-1A action. The win pushed RCS to 17-4 overall, and the Eagles of head coach David Pilger are still tied atop the region race with Richton at 5-1.

The 6-foot-5 junior center Ballard dominated play all night, in leading the Eagles to their fifth straight win and their 13th win in the past 14 games. He also stood out defensively with a pair of blocked shots.
Keyshawn Nesbitt, another RCS junior, chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists to the winning effort while senior guard Gian Vera added 13 points, four steals and four assists. Also, senior Gianfranco Diaz-Leon had nine points.

Resurrection hits the road for two games this week to close out the regular season, heading to Taylorsville Tuesday night and Lumberton Friday night. The Eagles handled both the Tartars and Panthers handily the first time this season at home, thumping 80-22 and roughing up Taylorsville 80-57.

The Region 8-1A Tournament is set for Taylorsville next week. Resurrection and Richton split the season series with both the Eagles and Rebels winning at home this season, but if the Eagles win both games this week they will end up with the top seed entering the tournament next week.
