PASCAGOULA — The Moss Point girls enjoyed a productive week wrapping up the regular season.

Now, the Lady Tigers hope to continue that success as they head into the Region 8-4A Tournament next week.

Moss Point moved to 15-13 overall with its third straight win in an eight day span, slipping past arch-rival Pascagoula 33-23 in a defensive struggle Friday night.

The loss drop the home-standing Lady Panthers to 6-18 overall, in what was the regular season finale for both teams.

The Lady Tigers doubled up on Pascagoula in the second half, thanks in large part to 10 points from center Zaria Nettles, to erase a 15-11 PHS lead at halftime and pull out the win.

Trinity Magee tallied a game-high 11 points for MPHS, while Nettles scored all of her 10 points in the second half including eight in a decisive third frame when the Lady Tigers rallied to take a 20-17 lead heading into the final period.

Pascagoula got eight points from Ja’Katelyn Johnson on the night.

Moss Point hosts the Region 8-4A Tournament beginning Monday. Pascagoula hosts the Reegion 4-6A Tournament tipping off on the same day.

However, while the Lady Panthers will see their first action on Monday the Lady Tigers won’t see action until Tuesday.
