MOSS POINT — The Moss Point girls defended their Region 8-4A title Friday night.

After dropping a pair of games in the regular season to top seeded Greene County, the second-seed Lady Tigers toppled the Lady ‘Cats 31-21 in the league tourney title tilt here at home in Arthur Haynes Gymnasium on the Moss Point High School campus.

The win moves MPHS to 17-13 overall on the season. Greene County falls to 24-4 with the loss. The Lady Cats beat Moss Point 35-29 in Leakesville and 42-30 on the road over a two week span last month.

But the third time was the charm for the Lady Tigers. Trinity Magee led MPHS with 12 points, while both Kirsten Bailey and Landyn Miller chipped in 10 points apiece to the game-winning cause.

Both teams will open the Class 4A South State playoffs at home on Monday night.

It marked the second straight season that the Lady Tigers downed the Lady ‘Cats in the Region 8-4A Tournament championswhip game.
