Sophomore starting pitcher Patterson Gilfoil turned in the most impressive performance of his week long varsity career for OSHS, as he dominated Vancleave on the hill working six stellar one hit shutout innings to pick up the win.

“That’s what we were looking for out of him, he pounded the zone and was efficient.” OSHS head coach Ryne Long said. “We had planned for a few other guys to get an inning or two, but he takes a no-hitter into the sixth on a low pitch count and it was kinda hard to justify telling him he was done.”

“He’s an extremely hard worker, and even though he’s just a sophomore he’s really a veteran guy on the mound for us. He pitched in a lot of crucial spots for us last year, so he’s got an idea of what to expect and how handle himself.”
Offensively, the visitors chipped their way to the win.
Adam Clower put OSHS up for good with an RBI-single in the top of the third for the first run of the game.
A.J. Rossi duplicated that feat two innings later with his own run-scoring single to make it 2-0.
And Vincent Rojas closed out the scoring with an RBI-ground out in the sixth stanza.

He also picked up the win in the season-opener over George County on Tuesday.
Colton French came on in the seventh to prserve the one-hitter and earn a save.
Vancleave’s Carter Fazzio, also a sophomore, started and went just over four frames to suffer the loss.
