GULFPORT — West Harrison standout guard Kameron Bolden is the “Southern Six Senior Spotlight” sponsored by Burnham Drugs this week.

Each week of the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports along with Burnham Drugs will highlight a deserving student/athlete in the “Southern Six”.

Bolden was a driving force for the Hurricanes this season as his team stands a solid 22-6 overall entering the Class 7A South State playoffs Saturday night.

West Harrison finished as the third seed in Region 4-7A and will face perennial state power Meridian on the road to open the playoffs. The Hurricanes nabbed that third slot thanks in large part to the play of the 5-foot-7 Bolden in an exciting 73-64, four overtime win over Ocean Springs in the consolation contest of the league tournament in D’Iberville late last week.

Bolden poured in a game-high 30 points in that thriller, including 18 of those spread across the four extra sessions. He was also solid at the free throw line down the stretch, converting 14-out-of-15 free throws in overtime.

Bolden also had nine points as the Hurricanes fell in close fashion to to-seed Gulfport 57-54 in the semifinal round, almost helping the Hurricanes pull off a big upset.
