JACKSON — A trio of Harrison County prep basketball squads are all looking to punch their tickets to the state championship round in the state’s largest classification here at The Big House on Tuesday.
The girls teams from both Harrison Central and Biloxi as well as the Biloxi boys squad will all take the court at The Mississippi Coliseum in Class 7A overall Final Four action with a berth to Friday night’s respective state title tilts on the line.

The Red Rebelettes face Madison Central at 3 p.m., to kick off action in the largest classification, followed by the Lady Indians and Starkville at 4:30 p.m., and then the Indians also take on Starkville in the final game of the day at 8:30 p.m.
The HCHS girls played for the state title in 2022, falling to Meridian 49-43. The Red Rebelettes have historically been one of the most tradition-rich girls’ programs in the state, having played in 16 state championship contests over the last five decades and winning 13 “Gold Balls”.
The last state title for the Lyman crew came in 2005.

The Biloxi girls, however, are on the opposite end of that spectrum as they face the Lady Yellow Jackets for the second straight season in the Final Four as have never played in a state championship game.
The Indians, however, have fared much better in the state finals. The Biloxi boys have competed for the crown five times, and won all five games, with the last state title coming in 2009.
Like the HCHS girls four years ago, the Gulfport boys in 2014 were the last “Southern Six” prep hoops squad on either side of the ledger to play for and win a state title, and that came 12 years ago.
